Rathergate Fin?

CBS slices like an effin' hammer:
CBS News has fired four employees, including three executives, for their roles in the broadcast of a disputed story about President Bush’s service in the National Guard, the network reported Monday.

The action followed an independent investigation, by former Attorney General Dick Thornburgh and former Associated Press President Louis Boccardi, that found network failed to follow basic journalistic principles in preparing the piece

Bill at INDC Journal is pleased.

It sure took too long, but the good guys won one today.

Comments:
I'm pleased, not just that heads rolled on this one, but that very senior heads rolled. If Mary Mapes (for example) still had her job, I would have been sick. I expected the only ones to be fired would be Fred the gaffer, Julie the camerawoman, and Billy, the guy who goes for coffee.

I'm glad CBS proved me wrong on that point.

In hindsight it looks like the good guys are getting yet another piece of wool pulled over our eyes. The report is prima facie total BS, I mean, really, no political bias? Any 6-year old can figure that one out. Unfortunately too many of us have been too busy congratulating ourselves, and letting them get away with 2/3rds of the crime. Remember, the known facts make it almost certain that the crimes of forging military documents, and wire and mail fraud were committed.
