The Onion Guide To Sitcom Spin-Offs.

Here is a great Onion piece on sitcoms and their less-successful spinoffs. It's worth checking out.

Speaking of which, the other night I watched bits and pieces of the Happy Days reunion. I managed to learn several important things:

-- You forget how young Ron Howard once looked.
-- It's a shame Henry Winkler didn't have more of a career.
-- It's a shame Danny Most never died in a boating accident.
-- Mork and Mindy aged very painfully.
-- Before she looked like Linda Tripp, Penny Marshall once looked okay.
-- Erin Moran now looks exactly like Michael Madsen.
-- Everyone during the reunion kept a straight face when the subject of Joanie Loves Chachi came up.

It's that last one that I just couldn't understand. I mean, if you can't laugh at the awfulness of Joanie Loves Chachi, what *can* you laugh at? Tsunami orphans? Landmine-crippled kids?

America is poorer for entertaining the notion that Joanie Loves Chachi was anything but a black hole of festering evil in the ABC television lineup.

Then again, it got Scott Baio invited to Hef's parties, so I guess it couldn't have been all that bad.
